Introduced in 1987, the VS 1400 Intruder has suffered only a few changes over the years. It was a very smooth V-twin with nice power, but didn't quite have the same Harley emulating sound of the Honda Shadow ACE or Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Neatly padded seats for both rider and passenger, a miniature backrest for the latter, a teardrop tank, raked-out forks, skinny front wheel with laced rims and a shorty exhaust are all on the list to stress out its retro heritage.įor most of its production lifetime the Suzuki Intruder 1400 was the largest model in the Intruder lineup. ![]() Compact, yet offering a comfy ride, this is a chopper worth considering when it's time to go for a new bike.Ĭlassic down to the bone, the VS1400 Intruder is a lower-big-bore chopper with tons of character, wire spoked wheels,a slash-but shorty silencer, a teardrop tank neatly complementing the raked-out front and yoke-mounted instruments. What do other people say about your motorcycle? Only other bike I could compare it to that I’ve rode is a Victory Highball. Now I finally got 2x 38mm Mikuni flat slides that perform great. Didn’t like how it looked and it took forever to tune. But it wasn’t in the budget anymore at the time so I ran the factory carbs and they are not identical. I wanted simple so single carb was the plan. 1500 has both carbs in the center with a fake tank and a big airbox. I think I’m the 3rd person ever to do it. I did a bunch of research first of course. I bought a whole bike for $200 pulled the heads off and put them on the 1400. Then it was game on! What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike? It fell over into my buddy’s bagger and his crash bar put a huge dent in the gas tank. What motivated you to start your project? And it just got crazy after that I guess. What was your intended objective when you started the build? ![]()
