Stopping was achieved via Single disc in the front and a Single disc in the rear. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-disc, manual. The bike has a 5 speed, manual transmission. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc). A 94.0mm bore x 94.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1360.0 cubic centimeters. The engine was a oil & air cooled four-stroke, air/oil cooled, 45 degree V-twin, SOHC, 6-valves. The original model had a 4 speed gearbox but in 1992, the 5 speed model was introduced to Europe. Introduced in 1987, the VS 1400 Intruder has suffered only a few changes over the years. It was a very smooth V-twin with nice power, but didn't quite have the same Harley emulating sound of the Honda Shadow ACE or Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Neatly padded seats for both rider and passenger, a miniature backrest for the latter, a teardrop tank, raked-out forks, skinny front wheel with laced rims and a shorty exhaust are all on the list to stress out its retro heritage.įor most of its production lifetime the Suzuki Intruder 1400 was the largest model in the Intruder lineup. Compact, yet offering a comfy ride, this is a chopper worth considering when it's time to go for a new bike.Ĭlassic down to the bone, the VS1400 Intruder is a lower-big-bore chopper with tons of character, wire spoked wheels,a slash-but shorty silencer, a teardrop tank neatly complementing the raked-out front and yoke-mounted instruments. The classic air/oil-cooled 1360cc v-twin packs plenty of punch to make the VS1400 Intruder fun to ride, solo and two-up, while the shaft final drive eliminates much of the overall maintenance fuss. Claimed horsepower was 59.94 HP (44.7 KW) 5000 RPM. It could reach a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). What do other people say about your motorcycle? Only other bike I could compare it to that I’ve rode is a Victory Highball. Now I finally got 2x 38mm Mikuni flat slides that perform great. Didn’t like how it looked and it took forever to tune. But it wasn’t in the budget anymore at the time so I ran the factory carbs and they are not identical. I wanted simple so single carb was the plan. 1500 has both carbs in the center with a fake tank and a big airbox. I think I’m the 3rd person ever to do it. I did a bunch of research first of course. I bought a whole bike for $200 pulled the heads off and put them on the 1400. Then it was game on! What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike? It fell over into my buddy’s bagger and his crash bar put a huge dent in the gas tank. What motivated you to start your project? And it just got crazy after that I guess. What was your intended objective when you started the build?

CDĪ really well-done dip into the New York City blues scene of the 50s – one that presents a wealth of work we might not have heard otherwise, pulled from labels that include Old Town, Harlem, Jax, Wing, Dog, and Groove! There's a nice mix of material here that really shows the way the city was able to act as a crossroads for styles that were not necessarily homegrown, but could certainly find a home in its diverse community – as some cuts have more of a rural bent, others have some of the more electrified touches that were coming into urban blues, and a few have some of the jump/ jazz styles of the R&B generation. Even with the stylistic breadth, he never dispenses with what mad him great in the first place – doing his thing with a vigorous, sweaty groove unlike anyone else! Includes "Superbad, Supersick" (Parts 1 & 2), "Dooley's Junkyard Dogs", "Everbody Wanna Get Funky One More Time" (Parts 1 & 2), "I Refuse To Lose", "Bodyheat" (Parts 1 & 2)", "Home Again", "Give me Some Skin", "People Who Criticize", "Love Me Tender", "The Spank", "Nature" (Parts 1 & 2), "It's Too Funky In Here" and many more. He's working in number of modes, from swaggering, taut and masterful takes on his personal stamp on classic funk, some bluesy soul, a rare couple of ballads, the Godfather covering the King and more. James Brown's funky singles from the mid-to-late 70s – Volume 10 in the complete singles series by The Godfather on Hip-O Select – and he's still killing it, one cut after another! This is a fascinating period for JB, in which the Godfather was still working hard, and more often than not, delivering top tier funky soul – but he wasn't hitting the charts like he used to, while those that he doubtlessly inspired were hitting pay dirt with his style. The vibe here is like the vintage Black Fire Records label at its best – and titles include "Salvation", "Theme For Cecil", "When Will I See You Again", "Shaman", "Tango Of Love", "Dogon Mysteries", and "The Last Slave Ship". LP version is limited and numbered – and features 180 gram audiophile pressed at RTI – all in a very heavy box! LP, Vinyl record albumĪ tremendous return to form for reedman Idris Ackamoor and his Pyramids group – and a record that we love every bit as much as his classic material from the 70s! There's a power, righteousness, and urgency to this album that we haven't heard from Ackamoor in years – very much the kind of material that's both a message and a medicine for the planet – of the sort that first inspired Ackamoor's generation in the 70s – and which is rarely carried off in a contemporary context this well! Idris plays tenor, but also delivers some surprisingly wonderful vocals and a few very powerful spoken parts too – and the rest of the lineup features Margaux Simmons on flute, Bobby Cobb on guitar, Ruben Ramos Medina on bass, Jack Yglesies on percussion, Sandra Poindexter on viola and violin, and Giole Pagliaccia on drums. Other tracks include the mono numbers "Scat Swim", "I Just Learned To Swim", "Buttermilk (part 1)", "Higher", "Underdog", "Bad Risk", "Advice", and "I Cannot Make It" – and the set has a total of 77 tracks in all. Previously unissued titles include "Silent Communication", "I Remember", "My Woman's Head (inst)", "Fortune & Fame", "What's That Got To Do With Me", "I Know What You Came To Say", "Love City", "Dynamite", "I Get High On You (version 2)", "Wonderful World Of Color (inst)", "Feathers (inst)", "Dance To The Music (live", "Music Lover/ I Want To Take You Higher/ Music Lover (live)", "High", and "You're The One (live)". In the summer of 1987, preparing for my interviews with the Apollo 8 crew, I pored over stacks of NASA documents, including the recently declassified official transcript of the astronauts’ private conversations captured by the onboard voice recorder. Almost two decades later I was sitting down with my childhood heroes, the men who went to the Moon, to hear their lunar experiences firsthand. I did everything I could to feel like I was part of this amazing science-fiction dream coming true. I had my own “mission control” in the den, with models of the spacecraft, maps of the Moon and articles about the flight from Time and Newsweek. On December 24, 1968, I was a 12-year-old space fanatic, glued to the television as Borman, Lovell and Anders sent back live TV pictures from lunar orbit. With the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8 approaching, I can’t think of a better time to share the whole story, which is told on these pages for the first time. Even after my book was published, the controversy continued for another two decades, until a NASA computer wizard confirmed my conclusion beyond all doubt. I found myself challenging NASA’s official version of the event, and landing in the middle of a dispute between the astronauts themselves. I discovered the answer 30 years ago when I was researching my book about the Apollo astronauts, A Man on the Moon. I can’t help but take that question personally. Walter Cronkite used it as a backdrop on the “CBS Evening News.” Wilderness photographer Galen Rowell called it “the most influential environmental photograph ever taken,” and it’s no accident that 16 months after we saw ourselves from the Moon, the first Earth Day took place.īut one question about the Earthrise photo has dogged historians for almost half a century: Who took it? postage stamp, and it adorned the cover of the Whole Earth Catalog. The following year it was made into a U.S. The picture that came to be known as “Earthrise” offered a precious moment of transcendence after a year of violence and turmoil. In today’s visually bombarded world it’s hard to imagine the immediate, global impact of that single image. In the following weeks, on newspaper front pages and magazine covers around the world, we suddenly saw ourselves as inhabitants of a lovely and seemingly tranquil planet afloat in the endless void of space. In December 1968, Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders returned from history’s first voyage around the Moon with this stunning image. It’s arguably the most iconic photograph of the 20th century: the Earth rising above the Moon’s bleached and desolate horizon, a breathtaking jewel of color and life more than 230,000 miles away. I expect its sillage is effective thanks to a composition mostly derived from volatile compounds. It leaves the wearer with an excellent trail behind them. The sillage, though, while it does last, is very good. However, I have heard through other reviewers that the intense version lasts significantly longer. You’re going to have to douse yourself in this for it to last longer. As for the performance, it is admittedly quite fleeting. You do get a quite classic dry down from the head all the way down to the base. The overall life cycle isn’t overly sophisticated. This expression is prevalent thanks to the ambergris, a white musk, that also delivers hints of pipe tobacco and sea breeze.Įarthy oakmoss offers a dry sensation while olibanum, related to frankincense, provides a distinctive conifer pine essence. Base NotesĪs you make your way to the base you’ll start to really pick out the fragrance’s aquatic facets. We may also detect a little bit of thyme, savoury, and some fragrant rosewood, which adds substance to this part of the fragrance. The heart really starts to express aromatics, especially rosemary. However, the black pepper really starts to show itself in the heart. It includes a crisp note of juniper, and you do detect a tiny bit of black pepper as well. This initial composition consists of bitter grapefruit as well as soft bergamot. Light Blue opens up with a distinctive citrus accord. Overall, it’s an aromatic citrus fragrance and we reviewed a bottle with the batch code 9189EM. In the following section, you’ll learn about Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue’s aroma profile.
